Today we learned about the first stages in brain developement and saw the brains of other animals through their developing stages.

Half Man / Half Tree

An Indonesian fisherman, Dede, age 35, is in reasonably good health except that his hands and feet resemble something out of the “Alien” movie series, with huge root-like growths that render his arms and legs useless, according to a November Discovery Channel TV program, “Half Man, Half Tree,” reported on by London’s Daily Telegraph. Dermatologist Anthony Gaspari of the University of Maryland flew to Indonesia and determined that Dede’s condition was caused by a genetic inability to restrain the growth of warts (“cutaneous horns”) produced by the human papillomavirus. Gaspari prescribed a regimen of vitamin A, which he said should reduce the size of the warts enough so that, with surgery, Dede could eventually use his hands again. [Daily Telegraph, 11-21-07]

Old Radio Shows

I couldn’t find them as podcasts but I found a really good site for old radio clips, t’s http://www.oldtimeradiofans.com/  They have a large variety of clips from 30’s, 40’s, and 50’s.  Including my personal favorite “Whos on First” by Abbot and Costello.

Guitar Hero III

Guitar Hero III

Guitar Hero offers basicly the same gameplay as Guitar Hero (GH) I & II. Some of the new features are downloadable songs for next gen consles, onliine competition, and “boss battles”. In boss battles you must face off against rock legends like Slash (Guns N’ Roses). From personal experience I think that GH III runs more smmothly than GH I & II.

No Charges in MySpace Suicide

Charges will not be filed against the people who sent cruel messages to a 13 year-old who minuetes later commited suicide.  Megan Meier commited suicide minuetes after receiving messages from a group of people.
